What Is New Life?

Are you a new Christian? Do you wonder what God’s plan for your new life is? Do you still have questions? Do you wonder what the steps are that you can take to grow? Read on…

WHAT IS NEW LIFE?
New life is Jesus’ life within me. This new life became mine when I received the Lord Jesus as my Savior.

WHEN DID MY NEW LIFE BEGIN?Stained Glass from Bethel's WindowsMy new life began when I believed that the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son, died for me, and I received Him as my Savior.

NOW THAT I HAVE NEW LIFE, WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I SIN?

Admit that I have sinned. Tell the Lord Jesus what I have done that is wrong and ask Him to help me not to do this wrong thing again.

WILL THE LORD JESUS LEAVE ME WHEN I SIN?
No, because “…he has said, I will NEVER leave you; I will NEVER abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

NOW THAT I HAVE NEW LIFE, WILL THE LORD JESUS HELP ME TO DO RIGHT?
Yes, even when it is hard to do what is right, I will remember, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

WHAT WILL MY NEW LIFE BE LIKE?
God doesn’t promise a trouble-free life, but the relationship I began today (or maybe renewed) is a relationship with God that no one can take away from me. I am His and He is mine. And with this new relationship comes God’s incredible promise that I will live with him even after I die. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live’.” (John 11:25)

HOW WILL I GROW IN MY NEW LIFE?

– PRAYER! Now that I have confessed my sin to the Lord Jesus, I can pray. I will PRAISE GOD for who He is. “For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” (Psalm 95:3) I will THANK GOD for all things. “In everything give thanks.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
I will PRAY FOR OTHERS. “Pray one for another.” (James 5:16) I will ASK GOD for what I need. “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

– BIBLE STUDY! I will grow in my new life by reading and obeying God’s Word, the Bible. “Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep (obey) it.” (Luke 11:28)

– TESTIMONY! I will tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ. “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.” (Mark 5:19)

– FELLOWSHIP! I will keep walking with the Lord Jesus. I will go to a Christ-centered/believing church such as Bethel where I can learn more about other steps in growing in my new life. Fellowship with other Christians is important. Just as people need other people, Christians need other Christians. When we get together, we can encourage each other to continue in our walk. “…not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25)

Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. (Colossians 2:6)
